We have had a bit of a hard time lately… I lost my Uncle Jim. He had been sick for 18 months, but he alwayss seemed to be able to bounce back. He lost his battle on the 7th July and we miss him lots.
Helping organise his funeral has taught me one thing everyone must talk to their loved ones about what they want when they go. He did not request much. He had a killer sense of humour and the two thngs he wanted was to be cremated and “go out to “Come on Baby light my fire.” I want to thank my friends who helped me through this time and special thanks to Cara, Deb and Jodie for your support at the Funeral and laughing at Jim’s humour as he left us. He would have loved that. Thanks to my DH for the wonderful video display.
Following are my words from the funeral:
Gordon Camm
Gardner, Practical Joker, real character, independent, determined, documentary lover, Handyman, Nature lover, Grumpy old Bugger. Many of the terms used to describe Gordon Camm, but to me her was my uncle, my friend.
Ready to tell a joke.
Ready to give advice.
Ready to teach you all the Aussie slang you could ever imagine (no proky pies).
Ready to a chat
How do I tell my four year old that her friend, Uncle Jim will not wake?
His soft whiskers, she will hug no more.
No more bandaids on his false leg.
No more tickels.
He has run his race.
Breath easy my friend,
your fears allayed,
no old fogies home for you to stay,
sleep well my friend.
